Pre-Mama, Las Palmas

I've heard some worrying stories regarding a lot of medical intervention. I speak intermediate Spanish, but am still worried about the level of stress and the level of care provided by midwives/doctors during the process. In Australia we have many birthing options and the midwives are usually in control of the whole process in a very caring and sensitive environment (doctors are only needed if there are complications). I would love to hear about your experiences and especially those of expats... I am also interested to hear of any mothers groups in Las Palmas (near Las Canteras preferably). Muchisamas gracias...
